Trench drains, designed and installed by people who actually do the digging.

Surface water belongs in a drain — not pooling at your garage door, undermining your driveway, or freezing across a loading bay. We spec, install, repair, and maintain trench drains across the Greater Toronto Area.

Process

How a trench drain install actually goes

No surprises, no upsell. The four steps from your call to a finished drain.

  1. 1

    Free site visit

We come out, look at where the water's coming from, where it needs to end up, and what's in the way. You get a fixed-price quote — not a range.

  2. 2

    Spec & permits

Channel material, grate load class, slope, tie-in. If a permit's needed (rare on residential, common on commercial), we handle it.

  3. 3

    Cut, install, tie-in

Saw-cut clean lines, set the channel to slope, connect to existing storm or sump. Most residential jobs: one day on site.

  4. 4

    Finish & warranty

Concrete poured or asphalt patched in-house. We come back to inspect after the first heavy rain. Workmanship warranty in writing.

Common questions

How much does a trench drain cost in the GTA?

Most residential driveway trench drain installs in the GTA run $1,800–$4,500 depending on length, grate spec, and how the line ties into existing drainage. Commercial work scales from there. We give a fixed quote after a free site visit — no estimates over the phone for jobs we haven't seen.

Do you handle the concrete or asphalt work too?

Yes. We cut, install the drain channel, and finish the pour or patch in-house. One crew, one warranty.

How long does an installation take?

A standard residential driveway drain is one day on site (cut, install, pour). The slab needs 24–48 hours to cure before traffic. Commercial timelines depend on scope.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Master Plumber Licence #T95-5349719, Plumbing Contractor #T94-5214638, fully insured, and operating in the GTA since 1991 under MT Drains & Plumbing.

Do I need a permit?

For most residential surface drains tying into existing storm or sump infrastructure, no separate permit is required in most GTA municipalities. Tie-ins to municipal storm sewers or new connections do require permits — we handle that paperwork.
