Private drainage tie-in
Tying into your existing private storm line, sump discharge, or a soakaway on your own lot has its permit scope determined by the Town under its by-laws. We confirm what applies before work begins.
Trench drains for Milton’s newer subdivisions and the older core — including the tight builder grading that new builds inherit.
Milton is mostly recent construction, which means modern storm infrastructure and — often — builder grading that was signed off on paper and does not match what the lot actually does in a heavy rain.
Six on-site steps from the first cut to a flush, water-tight finish. Same sequence on every job — what changes is length, materials, and crew size.
Builder grading sent every storm toward our garage. They cut one channel across the apron and it has been dry through two springs.
In a newer Milton subdivision the constraint is rarely the permit — it is the approved lot grading plan the builder registered, and whether your fix is allowed to change it.

Newer Milton subdivisions have approved grading and drainage plans on file, with swales meant to carry water between lots. A drain that redirects flow off the approved pattern can create a dispute with the Town or a neighbour. We work with the plan, not against it.
Properties near Sixteen Mile Creek or the escarpment lands west of town fall inside Conservation Halton’s regulated area, which reviews excavation and site alteration ahead of the Town.
The Halton Region sewer use by-law governs what may enter the sanitary sewer, and surface water is restricted under it. We do not install a connection that would conflict with the applicable by-law.
Milton runs about 55 to 75 minutes from our Richmond Hill shop depending on the 401. Site visits are booked in fixed windows and grouped with other Halton work, which keeps scheduling honest rather than open-ended.
Most Milton residential installs are one day on site. Newer subdivisions usually have a clean, findable outlet, which keeps these jobs toward the predictable end of the range.
Usually not for the drain itself when we tie into existing private drainage on your lot. It matters more whether the work changes your registered lot grading, and whether the property sits in a Conservation Halton regulated area. Both are checked on the site visit before we quote.
Possibly not. If the home is still within its new-home warranty period, lot grading that does not perform can be the builder’s obligation. We will say so at the site visit. Plenty of Milton homeowners pay for a drain the builder should have corrected, and we would rather lose the job than be the reason that happened.
Only within limits. Milton subdivisions are graded as a system, with swales carrying water between lots along an approved plan. We intercept water and route it to a legal outlet on your property. What we will not do is push your water onto a neighbour, which is how drainage disputes start.
Residential installs fall in the $1,800 to $4,500 GTA range, and Milton jobs often sit in the lower-to-middle part of it because newer construction usually offers a straightforward outlet and predictable concrete. A wide interlock apron or a long run to the outlet moves it up.
Yes. Warehouse floors, dock aprons, and loading areas across Milton’s industrial lands are quoted after a site visit. Load class is the driving variable — a dock apron taking loaded trailers needs a very different channel and grate than a driveway.
Yes. Grate choice is partly a load decision and partly a finish decision. On Milton hardscape work we set the channel to the landscaper’s finished elevation so the grate sits flush, and we walk you through grate options that suit the surface instead of defaulting to one part.
Typically 24 to 48 hours after the patch is poured, depending on temperature and the mix. We tell you the specific window before we leave the site.
Yes, and the timing matters. Deck drainage designed alongside the pool build is straightforward. Retrofitting a drain into a finished deck means cutting through new hardscape, which costs considerably more. If your pool is still in the planning stage, involve us before the deck goes down.
