Private drainage tie-in, serviced area
Inside the town core, tying into your existing private storm line, sump discharge, or a soakaway has its permit scope determined by the Town under its by-laws. We confirm what applies before work begins.
Trench drains across Whitchurch-Stouffville — a growing town core surrounded by moraine country where outlets have to be built.
Stouffville is two jobs in one municipality. Inside the serviced town core you have modern storm infrastructure and newer subdivision grading. Outside it, moraine country with private septic, wells, and no storm sewer at all.
Six on-site steps from the first cut to a flush, water-tight finish. Same sequence on every job — what changes is length, materials, and crew size.
Town side of the line, so we had a storm connection. They checked rather than assuming, which is apparently unusual.
The single most useful thing to establish about a Whitchurch-Stouffville property is whether it is inside the serviced area or outside it. That decides whether the outlet is something we connect to or something we build.

Much of the township sits on the moraine, a protected groundwater recharge area. Work altering drainage or infiltration there can attract review that a job in the serviced core would not.
Outside the serviced area there is nothing to connect to. The drain discharges to a properly sized soakaway or a surface outlet with real fall, and sizing that for your soil is the actual engineering.
Routing storm water into a septic tank or leaching bed falls outside how these systems are permitted to be used. It floods the system and destroys the field. We do not install it.
Stouffville is 25 to 40 minutes east of our Richmond Hill shop. Rural township addresses take longer to reach than the drive time suggests, so we book realistic fixed windows.
Serviced-core installs are typically one day on site. Rural jobs where the outlet has to be built often run to two, and we tell you which yours is at the quote.
It is the first thing we establish, because it changes the whole design. Inside the Stouffville core there is usually municipal storm infrastructure and a findable outlet. Outside it, on moraine and rural properties, the drain discharges to a soakaway or surface outlet we build. We confirm your address rather than assuming from the postal code.
Usually not for the drain itself when we tie into existing private drainage on your lot. Moraine rules can add review on rural parcels, and a new municipal storm connection needs a Town permit. We confirm what applies before quoting.
Rarely. The moraine protects groundwater recharge, and infiltrating clean runoff on your own land supports that objective. What attracts scrutiny is work that reduces recharge or pipes clean water off the moraine. A well-sized soakaway generally satisfies both the drainage need and the policy.
Almost certainly not. Near the lake the water table can sit high enough that digging deeper just finds groundwater and the channel never empties. The answer is a shallower run with properly built fall, often to a pumped discharge. We measure before designing, and we will tell you if a trench drain is the wrong tool for your lot.
Serviced-core installs fall in the $1,800 to $4,500 GTA range. Rural moraine properties commonly run above it, because building an outlet costs more than connecting to one and the runs tend to be longer. We quote after seeing the property.
Well clear of both. Water routed toward a septic bed destroys the leaching field, and a discharge point near a well head is a contamination risk. We locate both before selecting an outlet on every rural property.
Yes — Ballantrae, Musselman’s Lake, Gormley, Vandorf, Bloomington, and the rural addresses between them. They are further out than the town core, so we book generous fixed windows.
Check your new-home warranty first. Lot grading that does not perform can be the builder’s obligation while the home is still in its warranty period. We will say so at the site visit even though it means we do not get the work.
